SO YOU'RE IN THE MOB NOW: A handy OOC guide of IC things you should know and can safely assume about being a part of the guild!
So you're in the draenei mob now! Congratulations and welcome to your new life of debt, drug use/selling, whores and violent solutions to problems! Since we've had a ton of new people in the past month or so, and our old guides were lost in the forum swap, I think it's time to do another summary of things you should OOCly take into account and you can run with/assume in being a part of this guild. Apologies for not revamping this sooner and leaving some of you hanging or uncertain on some of these points. Hopefully, things will be cleared up as we try to streamline more of these elements for maximum mob potential!
1) PAYCHECK: Your character, once they are properly inducted, will be getting a weekly stipend. This is NOT represented by actual in-game gold/items, sadly, nor will there be actual letters sent out. (This is subject to change, mind. It's just another whole officer meeting that'd need to happen first before anything is determined.) This salary will be mailed at the end of every week in a simple, unmarked envelope, probably signed by Lilifred Bumblehurst or one of her underlings. Depending on your station and any good/bad things you've done for the family that week will be added or detracted from the total. An actual sum will be most likely be determined for various stations/occupations at a later date.
2) WORKING FOR YOUR DEPARTMENT: While we are actively working on having more actual in-game events and jobs scheduled and carried out, and individual capos are always welcome to assign specific tasks to their underlings, we actively encourage you to make up your own busy work. This does not mean you are left to drift or that we are shirking doing any of the actual heavy lifting; this is just a clarification that we are more than happy to see you stating that your character has been doing tasks pertaining to their department, either actually played out or just 'off stage' and OOCly implied.
Examples of this would include: members of enforcement saying they had tasks of collecting debts, intimidating junkies, or defending a brothel or drug/material shipment. Members of production saying they've been out gathering herbs/materials for drug-making. Members of 'human relations' indeed carrying out the oldest profession. Members of research handling ill-gotten goods and artifacts and appraising them for value, carrying out low-key assassinations, or getting dirt on city officials/johns/customers/guards/etc. Members of sales selling products to NPCs, assisting with book-keeping and payroll, forging letters/signatures.
Saying that you're doing these things on the side or 'off-screen' is HIGHLY encouraged, and you are more than welcome to make them into your own side-plots if you so wish. (Such as a side-story about someone having to beat up a repeat debt offender, or getting to know some sorry john or drug customer.) It is to your discretion what missions or tasks you might want to consult your capo department head before you go through with, as there are some that might be too large or plot-dependent to go forward with without OOC consultation. When in doubt, do not be afraid to ask! Better to err on the side of caution rather than have to deal with awkward ret-cons or stepping on toes.
CAPO ABSENCE: Unless it is stated expressly otherwise, we the management would like to state that all capos are ICly present. Real life is a wily beast, as we all know, and it takes priority over all else, as RP and WoW are just a game that we are here to have fun with. Sometimes people must leave suddenly, or for extended spans of time that is beyond their control.
As said, unless the capo states otherwise (such as saying they are conspicuously absent or left an IC notice of their whereabouts and activities), they are still around in some capacity and giving orders, even if it is just by mail. It is again to your discretion of what to roll with. Just saying that you've still be getting orders, such as small tasks pertaining to your Kamil station, is highly encouraged. If this, for some reason, becomes a problem or is causing you to become uncomfortable if you're left to sail on your own for too long, PLEASE speak up with another capo and we'd be happy to help give you direction and support from there.
Other things may be added to this list, so keep an eye on it! Otherwise, if there are any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me (Campion) or another capo about anything, either pertaining to the above matters or anything else in general! And above all, HAVE FUN!
